So we are back in My hometown for the first time in almost 3 years. The last time we came down here was in Chad’s final trip … we visited Nini and Pipi, saw my Goppie for the final time before she died and then drove up to Orlando for Sea World and Disney.
So since Chad passed we haven’t done any of the same trips. Every trip or vacation has been something new … something where we haven’t had to have any of those “remember when” moments. So this was a big deal … finally coming back home where the memories of Chad surround us. Yesterday we went to the basketball court where all three boys loved running around and then to the park at Prince Field where I learned to play baseball and where my kids love to play “monster” on the playground.
Last time there were 5 of us running around that park. But I am happy to report that it’s been a really good time. We had fun playing basketball and running around the park. Lots of smiles and laughter … even though I ended up with a bruise the size of my fist (these boys are getting a little bit too big to chase). The memories of Chad surround us, but it hasn’t been sad … I’m really glad we came back and the boys have loved spending time with their Nini and Pipi (and the weather has been pretty amazing).
So before this trip I said we were done with Disney…that I couldn’t go back. But, my mind has been changed. Next trip we will be back to Disney for the run in January 2019! Jason is going to run one of the Disney races with Team ChadTough and we are going to be there as a family. There will be many of those “remember when” moments, but I’m hopeful that they will be joined by smiles and not tears.
Oh, and we definitely have a house sitter 🙂
PS – Go Blue, what a game!!!
