How did you become involved with The ChadTough Foundation?

I was raised in Chelsea, Michigan, and graduated from the University of Michigan. I have lived in Wimbledon, in southwest London, England, for 27 years. Like the Carrs, I have three sons, and the story of Chad touched my heart. When Chad was first diagnosed with DIPG, he enjoyed receiving postcards and “Would you rather” questions, and I would often send these to him. When they started The ChadTough Foundation to raise funds to fight DIPG, I began donating to this wonderful cause.

What inspired you to support The ChadTough Foundation by selling parking spaces for the Wimbledon tennis tournaments?

I saw that the foundation was encouraging garage sales as a way to support ChadTough. We don’t have garage sales in London, but I realized I could use the front of my house in another way, by renting out our parking spaces for Wimbledon tennis. We live 300 yards from the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, also known as the All England Club, which is the venue for the Wimbledon Championships. Since my children are grown and no longer available to stand outside with a sign, I use an app called JustPark so that tennis-goers can book spaces with me, and I am happy to say I always sell out. I think I will raise my prices next year! It’s for a great cause. I also make sure all of my “parkers” are aware of The ChadTough Foundation, and I often receive very touching feedback from them.

What would you say to others about getting involved with ChadTough?

Tammi and Jason Carr have done such an admirable thing turning the tragedy of losing Chad into something positive, which will hopefully lead to a cure for DIPG. They are so strong and have shown what a difference one can make in this world. I encourage everyone to think of ways to support ChadTough, through garage sales, renting out parking spaces (I’m thinking of autumn football Saturdays), the virtual run, or something more specific to you. The answer may be just outside your doorstep.
