Last night I was fortunate to spend time with students, parents and staff at Marysville High School for their annual pink out event to benefit The ChadTough Foundation.

Marysville High School pink out event

It was wonderful to see these students engaged in making an impact on DIPG, but it was bittersweet because of the memories from one year ago.

Last year at this event almost exactly 1 year ago, I was blessed to meet the Marks family and their beautiful daughter, Olivia. I remember her running around being her silly self with her sister, Emily, and she stole my heart.

She really reminded me so much of Chad and ended up being the horn puller at our race in September. Well, last night Emily and her parents were there without her, since DIPG stole her from them about 1 month ago.

That is the reality of this disease…the difference that just one year can make. So we honor Olivia and Chad and all of the others who gave their lives, but who are still making an impact…inspiring so many others to continue the fight.

Thank you to Marysville High School and the Marysville community for fighting along side of us 🧡
