Diagnosed: April, 2018

Written by Kristen

Kristen moore2 I am Kristen Moore and I was diagnosed with DIPG at the age of 20 in April of 2018. I had been married to my husband, Lucas, for almost 2 years. I found out I had my tumor because I was constantly falling, having headaches, and experiencing double vision 24/7. After being diagnosed, I underwent radiation for six weeks, started chemo and enjoyed my summer the best I could.

Prior to being diagnosed I was a full time student in a nursing program with only three semesters left. I always had a passion to help others. Even with my condition, I felt like I was contributing to medicine. Sure, It is an unfortunate situation to have but it is what it is. I took it day by day and each morning I counted my blessings. Being young and married on top of having to do treatment was a challenge too. However, we made the most of it. In a way, cancer helped me realize how precious each moment of life truly is. I hope one day there is a cure to this horrible disease but I kept on fighting the best way that I could.
